Clingstone: the House on the Rocks

Clingstone is one of the most amazing houses I have ever seen and not because it is situated on the rocks and has rough edges in the literal meaning of the word, but because it is enfolded in mystery and irradiates the feeling of something too romantic to be true. Clingstone is a faded and mystique103-year-old mansion set on a rock in Narragansett Bay.

Clingstone: the House on the Rocks

It’s present-days owner – Mr. Wood, a 79-year-old Boston architect, is the one who rebuilt the house and made it look the way it is now. This house looks like a fortress and it is inaccessible from all sides, it is a perfect place to spend a day or to, but not to live in. It is a kind of house for those who hate when people bother them and for those who adore privacy and intimacy more than anything in this world.

Clingstone had been built by a distant cousin of Mr. Wood – J.S. Lovering Wharton. Each year relatives and friends of the owner visit this house and try their best to make it clean, they wash windows and rooms, clean the dust, water the flowers and make house look even better than it was.

I saw the house a few years back on a vacation trip with my wife to R.I. I would LOVER to travel to it with a group of Police Friends and spend a week. Does it rent out? How much. And If not, What can I offer service wise to get a look. I am fasinated by it! Thank You. Harry G.

Giethoorn – Village in Holland with No Roads

We were house-sitting for my cousin in Coevorden and had the use of their car. We drove all over The Netherlands. There is a parking lot at the entrance to the village. Just park and walk in. It's well worth the trip.
