Hello, everybody, first of all, let me congratulate you on Thanksgiving Day or just Thanksgiving and wish you: happiness, love and good luck. What is more, I adore this quote, may be you’ll like it as well:

“Remember God’s bounty in the year. String the pearls of His favor. Hide the dark parts, except so far as they are breaking out in light! Give this one day to thanks, to joy, to gratitude!”. Henry Ward Beecher said it.

I am almost sure, that everybody knows, what it is all about, but I just want to fresh it in your mind, so….

 Thanksgiving feast

In the USA Thanksgiving Day is an annual and very important holiday. It lasts one day and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is aimed at giving thanks to God right at the end of the harvest time.

Its celebration started many centuries ago and can be traced to legendary Pilgrims, in 1620 they crossed the Atlantic, then after some time, reached Plymouth (but, they were going to Virginia, harsh winds puzzled them). Approximately 46 Pilgrims died, but in 1621 a native Indian told and taught Pilgrims how to survive while living in Plymouth.

The summer of 1620 was really hot and drought had almost ruined the crops, but Pilgrims prayed to God and it stopped raining right at the end of this day.

Also, Indians taught Pilgrims how to grow beans, pumpkins and corn, namely this knowledge left them alive and helped them to survive, so a great celebration was held, Pilgrims thanked God. It was “The first thanksgiving feast”.

Thanksgiving day in the USA

In 1863 President Lincoln proclaimed last Thursday of November to be thanksgiving day.

Good luck and celebrations! God bless you and don’t forget to thank him once again!
