First of all, let me congratulate you on Halloween. It is celebrated on the 31st of October and is shortened from the word All Hallow Eve. This holiday was popular among the Celts population of 2 countries: Ireland and Great Britain. In the 19th century, immigrants from these countries brought it to North- America. And other countries borrowed it only in the 20th century.

Halloween is one of the oldest holidays on the Earth. And it is celebrated greatly in many countries and each country has its own All Hallow Eve kind. In fact, it can supply you with some ideas as to celebration.
I think, everybody knows, that Halloween celebration in the USA is pomp. It gathers crowds of people and looks like exuberant gaiety. Jack-o-lanterns, Halloween costumes, Halloween cars etc.

While visiting Mexico, Latin America and Spain at Halloween, you will face a three-day celebration. And actually, you have to stay till the 3d day of celebration, it is the most important one - it is a day of the Hallowmas observance (more known as the All Soul’s Day - it is time to honour the spirits of the dead relatives and friends). The honour can be shown in many ways, but people make altars, decorate them and put there favourite sweets, candies of the deceased and fresh water.
In Ireland and Canada, Halloween is not a very good holiday to celebrate, because very often it is still widely connected with ancient evil associations as to this festival. And only some people adore celebrating it now with fun.

Australia is not a country where you will meet pompous Halloween celebrations. And only some Australian children adore “trick or treating”. But, some people still celebrate it and even have their own Halloween recipe - the “Halloween Butternut Pumpkins”.
If you want to find more about Halloween, please, read a book “The Halloween Tree” from Ray Bradbury. Have a nice celebration!
