The Battle of the Oranges is the biggest food fight on the Earth that takes place each February in the Piedmont town of Ivrea, Italy. The festival gathers crowds of people who organize a medieval battle by throwing oranges at each other. I guess, by the end of the battle the entire town is healthy and fed up with Vitamin C.
Everybody concerned or those who would like to enjoy the festival are welcomed to visit Ivrea, that is 35 kilometers from Turin, on the Sunday before Lent. As a rule these fights involve more than 3,000 revellers on foot and in carts, as well as festively decorated horses. The event lasts for three days, and by the end it is really challenging to find a person or place without being covered with orange juice.
The following festival pays tribute to the rebellion of the people against tyrannical lords who were in charge of the country in the Middle Ages.
