Have you ever heard about Yorkshire Dales? Yeah, I am telling you about the number one must-seen place in the UK. It is a great and professionally managed National Park of really outstanding beauty. The park offers more than you ever imagined possible: wildlife, lush gardens and forests, perfect opportunities for walking, fishing, hiking and cycling.
The National Park occupies a vast territory and extends to some 682 square miles. With its numerous sceneries, various castles, great museums, art galleries, shops, the park is a perfect place for holidays. Origin of its name is very fascinating: the country side consists of green valleys called ‘dales’. Most visitors adore this region for its incredible rolling countryside, small and scenic villages with outstanding waterfalls, gorges and caves, underground rivers.
To the most popular places (I mean among tourists) belong Ripley Castle (the castle itself is a rather beautiful building and one can enjoy incredible views from its terrace. What is more, there is a gift shop right near the castle offering a great selection of natural soaps, books, cushions, candles, maps and cards), Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Abbey, but what I like the most about this park, you can find out a lot secret places, hidden from the rest of people. So, if you are looking for solitude and tranquillity, you are welcome here.
The Yorkshire Dales can be seen in many movies and series, for example, soap ‘Emmerdale’, a movie about Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. That is why, the park is besieged by tourists, but its doors are still widely opened to new visitors.
